About

The Stude

The Stude is a small ceramics teaching studio in Savannah, GA. The Stude is located on the second floor of The Rainbow House in the Starland Arts District.

Offering adult sessional pottery classes and one-time creative try-clay events, The Stude is designed to be a welcoming place where beginners and experienced makers alike can learn, experiment, and have fun with clay. Through hands-on instruction and an intimate class setting, The Stude aims to make pottery approachable, engaging, and rewarding while helping students build skills, confidence, and a lasting connection to the creative process.

With The Stude’s small class sizes, students receive individual attention and leave with both new skills, a sense of accomplishment, and an appreciation for the clay process.

The Stude is owned, operated, and instructed by Hayley Reed (they/them), a ceramic artist and educator originally from Houston, Texas. Hayley earned their Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and moved to Savannah in 2025 after seven years in Seattle, WA.

While in Seattle, Hayley apprenticed under ceramic artist
Deb Schwartzkopf at Rat City Studios before going on to teach at both Rat City Studios and Rain City Clay, both owned by Deb.
Hayley has six years of instructional experience, teaching sessional pottery classes, individual lessons, and group events across a variety of clay techniques and skill levels.
