Studio Rules

age restrictions:

The Stude offers classes to adults 18+ and older and 21+ and older. The Mud & Mingle and Make a Mug classes are for adults 21+ and older, and the 8-week session classes are for adults 18+ and older.

Dress code:

Wear clothing to your class that you don’t mind getting dirty. Aprons are not provided, so feel free to bring one if you’d like a little extra protection for your clothes. Clay generally washes out of clothing, but glazes can stain, so keep that in mind for sessional weekly classes.
Closed-toe shoes are required.

Code of conduct:

Participants are expected to treat The Stude, their instructor(s), staff, and fellow students with respect. Harassment, disruptive or disrespectful behavior, and intentional damage to The Stude’s property will not be tolerated. At the discretion of the instructor, and The Stude, participants may receive a warning or may be required to leave the class or event. Participants may be held financially responsible for damage to or destruction of The Stude property. If a student is asked to leave a class or event for harassment, disruptive or disrespectful behavior, or intentional damage to The Stude or The Rainbow House property, they will not receive a refund and will not be allowed to return or re-enroll in a class or event.

Clay & Glaze

ONLY The Stude’s provided clays may be used during 8-week classes and open studio. Studio glazes are provided, but students may bring outside Cone 6 glazes to use with prior approval from their Stude instructor. Outside glazes must be tested on Stude clays in Stude firings before being fully applied to finished work.

Arrival & Timing for classes

Your time and your instructor’s time are valuable. Please plan to arrive 10 minutes before your class to get settled, gather your work and tools, and get ready to make. Demonstrations will begin 15 minutes after the scheduled class start time, allowing a brief grace period for anyone running late. Please arrive early whenever possible so you’re settled and ready when instruction begins.

  • If you arrive after a demonstration has begun or ended, the demonstration will not be repeated during class time. Class time is limited, and repeating demonstrations takes instructional and supported learning time away from the rest of the class.

  • If you miss a demonstration and would like additional instruction, you may schedule a one-hour private make-up lesson with your instructor for $40.

Students arriving more than 30 minutes late to an event or class will be considered a no-show.

Student Cancellation Policy:

Cancellations in classes are difficult to fill. Please double-check your schedule before committing to an event. Refunds take several business days to process from the date we receive the email request. If you need to cancel or re-schedule your event please email thestudesav@gmail.com ASAP.

  • 100% of tuition (less a $10 processing fee) will be refunded if a student elects to drop a class no later than 10 days before the first class meeting. 

  • 75% of tuition (less a $10 processing fee) will be refunded if a student drops a class within 7 days before the first class meeting. 

  • 50% of tuition (less a $10 processing fee) will be refunded if a student drops a class within 3 days before the first class meeting. 

  • 0% (NO tuition) will be refunded if a student drops a class within 2 days/48 hours before the first class meeting. If a student elects to drop a class, tuition will NOT be refunded for any reason except for documented emergencies. (providing a doctor's note or other official document). There are no other exceptions to this policy.

    Refund & Rescheduling Fee: A $10 administrative fee applies to each approved refund or rescheduling request. This fee is to cover the payment processing fees and administrative costs involved in making changes to a registration.

Studio (The Stude) Cancellation Policy:

The Stude reserves the right to cancel a class or event up to 3 days in advance of the class or event due to insufficient enrollment. If a class is canceled, you will be offered the option of moving to another class or a full refund.

8-Week: Wheel 101 needs a minimum of 2 students to run.
8-Week: Handbuilding 101 needs a minimum of 4 students to run. 

MEDIA, PHOTO & VIDEO RELEASE

I (participating student) give The Stude permission to photograph, film, videotape, or otherwise record me during classes, events, workshops, open studio sessions, or other activities at The Stude for publicity, promotional, advertising, or marketing purposes.

I consent to The Stude’s use of my name, likeness, image, and/or voice, without monetary compensation, in its website, social media, advertising, promotional materials, and other marketing or publicity. I release The Stude LLC and its owners, instructors, employees, agents, representatives, and volunteers from claims arising from the authorized capture or use of these photographs, videos, recordings, or other media, including claims relating to privacy, publicity, or defamation.

I consent to participation in the activities and programming of The Stude and authorize The Stude and its agents, employees, or volunteers to provide or seek emergency medical treatment for me on my behalf.

HOLD HARMLESS, ASSUMPTION OF RISK & WAIVER OF LIABILITY

I am eighteen (18) years of age or older, fully competent, and voluntarily choosing to participate in the classes, events, workshops, open studio sessions, and other activities offered by The Stude and/or use The Stude’s facilities.

I understand that participation in activities at The Stude and use of its facilities involve inherent risks, including those associated with the use of sharp tools, equipment, materials, and other objects involved in studio activities, which may result in injury, illness, property damage, or death. I acknowledge that these risks cannot be completely eliminated, even when reasonable care is taken.

Being fully informed of these risks, and in consideration of being permitted to participate in The Stude activities and/or use its facilities, I voluntarily assume all risks of injury, damage, illness, or other harm to myself arising from or related to such activities or use.

I hereby waive, release, and forever discharge The Stude LLC, including its owners, instructors, officers, employees, agents, representatives, volunteers, successors, and assigns, from any and all claims, demands, causes of action, lawsuits, damages, liabilities, expenses, or rights of recovery, whether known or unknown, arising from or in any way related to my participation in The Stude activities or use of its facilities. I further agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Stude LLC and the persons and entities listed above from claims or liabilities arising from my participation in The Stude activities or use of its facilities.

This Waiver and Release constitutes the entire agreement between the parties concerning its subject matter and will remain in effect after my participation in The Stude activities or use of its facilities has ended.

I understand that by signing this Waiver and Release, I am giving up certain legal rights, including the right to bring certain claims against The Stude and the persons and entities released above. I have read this Waiver and Release, understand its terms, and voluntarily agree to it without duress, threat, inducement, promise, or guarantee.
